My Journey to a More Natural Home (And Why Christa's Creations Was Born)

About a year ago, I found myself asking a question I never expected to ask:

What am I putting on—and around—my body every single day?

Like many women, I started noticing changes as I got older. My hormones weren't the same, my skin was becoming more sensitive, and my psoriasis seemed to flare up more often. At first, I assumed it was just part of getting older.

But then I started reading.

It began with something simple: the cleaning products I used around my home. I spent a lot of time washing dishes, cleaning counters, doing laundry, and handling different household cleaners. As I researched some of the ingredients found in everyday products, I learned that certain chemicals have been studied for their potential to interfere with hormones or irritate sensitive skin.

That one search turned into another...

Then another...

Before long, I had fallen down a rabbit hole I never saw coming.

I realized it wasn't just the products I cleaned my house with.

It was the soap I washed my hands with.

The body wash I used every morning.

The lotion I applied after every shower.

The laundry detergent that stayed on my clothes all day.

The lip balm I reached for several times a day.

The more I looked, the more I realized these products were everywhere. Every day, we use dozens of products without giving much thought to what's inside them.

That realization changed everything for me.

Looking for Better Alternatives

Instead of focusing on what I wanted to eliminate, I started looking for what I wanted to add.

Simple ingredients.

Traditional ingredients.

Ingredients that people had trusted for generations.

That's when I discovered beef tallow skincare.

At first, I'll admit—I was skeptical.

Using beef tallow on my skin sounded unusual. But as I researched more, it started making sense. Grass-fed beef tallow is naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, and its fatty acid profile is remarkably compatible with our skin. Many people find it deeply moisturizing, especially for dry or mature skin.

I decided to try it myself.

The difference I noticed encouraged me to keep learning.

Discovering the Power of Essential Oils

Around the same time, I also became fascinated with essential oils.

Not because they smell nice—although they certainly do—but because many have been traditionally used to support healthy skin.

Since I struggle with psoriasis, I wanted gentle ingredients that worked with my skin instead of against it.

I learned about oils like lavender, frankincense, tea tree, chamomile, peppermint, eucalyptus, sweet orange, and rosemary. Each one has its own unique properties and has been traditionally used in skincare for calming, cleansing, or nourishing the skin.

Today, I choose essential oils carefully—not just for their fragrance, but for the experience and purpose they bring to each product.

A Year Later...

What started as curiosity quickly became a passion.

I began making products for myself.

Then for family.

Then friends started asking for them.

Before I knew it, Christa's Creations had become much more than a hobby.

It became a way to share something I genuinely believe in.

Every soap, body butter, lip balm, dish soap, and skincare product I make is created with the same question I asked myself a year ago:

"Would I feel good using this every day?"

If the answer isn't yes, I keep working until it is.

I'm Not Here to Tell You to Throw Everything Away

This journey isn't about fear.

It's not about perfection.

And it's definitely not about making anyone feel guilty for the products they've used for years.

Every person's skin is different. Every family has different needs. What works well for one person may not work the same for another.

For me, choosing simpler ingredients was about making small, thoughtful changes over time. One product at a time. One swap at a time.

Those small choices eventually became a lifestyle.

If I Can Help One Person...

People often ask why I spend so much time researching ingredients, testing recipes, and making products in small batches.

The answer is simple.

If something I make helps one person find relief from dry skin...

If one family discovers a product they feel better about using...

If one customer starts asking more questions about the ingredients they bring into their home...

Then I've accomplished exactly what I hoped to.

That's success to me.

Thank you for supporting Christa's Creations and for being part of this journey with me. Whether you've been here since the beginning or you've just discovered my little business, I'm grateful you're here.

Here's to making small changes that can lead to something bigger.

One bar of soap at a time.
