A Day in the Life at Christa's Creations
When people visit my website or stop by my booth at a market, they often ask, "Is this what you do full-time?"
The answer always surprises them.
No... not yet.
Like many small business owners, I work a full-time job Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Christa's Creations is built during early mornings, quiet evenings, and weekends. It's a second job—but it never really feels like one because it's something I genuinely love.
Here's what a typical day looks like.
☕ 6:30 AM – A Quiet Start
Before work begins, I make myself a coffee and head outside.
The garden has become one of my favorite places to start the day. I'll wander through the rows, checking on vegetables, admiring the flowers, and seeing what's ready to harvest.
Some mornings I'm picking fresh vegetables for supper. Other mornings I'm gathering calendula, chamomile, lavender, or herbs that will later be dried and infused into my skincare products.
There's something incredibly calming about starting the day surrounded by things you've grown yourself.
💻 9:00 AM – My Full-Time Job
From 9 until 5, I'm focused on my career.
Like many people chasing a dream, Christa's Creations isn't my only responsibility. It takes balance, planning, and sometimes a lot of late nights.
But knowing I have something creative waiting for me after work makes the days go by a little faster.
🧼 8:30 PM – The Workshop Comes Alive
After supper, it's time for my favorite part of the day.
Around 8:30, the workshop lights come on, the scale comes out, and the soap-making begins.
This is where ideas become real.
Some nights I'm making soap.
Other nights I'm whipping body creams, pouring lip balms, testing new recipes, or experimenting with new colour combinations and essential oil blends.
Every batch teaches me something new, and I still get excited every time I cut into a freshly cured loaf to see how it turned out.
It's my creative escape after a busy day.
📦 Saturdays & Sundays – Building the Business
Weekends are where Christa's Creations really comes to life.
This is when I package freshly cured soaps, label new products, photograph everything for the website, update inventory, write blog posts, and create the social media content you'll see throughout the week.
There are also orders to pack, supplies to organize, recipes to tweak, and usually another walk through the garden to see what's blooming.
There's always another project waiting—but I wouldn't have it any other way.
❤️ Why I Keep Going
People often see the finished soap on the shelf, but they don't always see the hours behind it.
The mornings in the garden.
The evenings spent making products after a full day of work.
The weekends dedicated to packaging, photography, website updates, and planning what's next.
Christa's Creations isn't built in a factory or by a large team.
It's built one evening, one weekend, and one handmade batch at a time.
Every product represents a little piece of my life, and I'm so grateful that you've chosen to be part of this journey.
Whether you've purchased a product, followed along on social media, or simply stopped by to read this blog, thank you for supporting a dream that's being built after 5 p.m.
